Happy Birthday Gerald

Just over a week ago, I shared a photo of my great-grandfather, Doctor Eugene “Doc” Sims. Yesterday, his son, Gerald Sims, celebrated his 100th birthday. Gerald served in World War II as a crew chief for the North American B-25 Mitchell bomber in the U.S. Army Air Corps. This is my great-uncle — my grandmother’s brother — and I could tell many great stories of his further accomplishments when he returned home. I suppose I would need to write a book. My Great Grandpa

This is a digital photo* I captured of an old photograph of my great-grandfather, Doctor Eugene Oscar “Doc” Sims. Please stay safe and make some great memories with family and friends. Speaking of friends, here’s a Throwback Thursday photo of a couple of mine. Don’t judge. (more…)

Three Years Free

Today, I celebrate the end of my third year tobacco-free. I lit my seventh cigarette of the day at 10:55 in the morning on June 24, 2011. At 11:30, I applied my first nicotine patch from the quitline. I had mixed feelings about the first patch. I experienced much uncertainty for the first couple of hours. At first, I was considerably nervous. However, by sunset I was feeling great! In celebration, and because my eBook is no longer a “New Release”, I have lowered the price. You can now purchase (more…)
